Current: John S Dunn Sr Presidential Distinguished Chair in Biomedical Engineering, Houston Methodist Professor of Radiology, Neurosciences, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College Professor of Experimental Therapeutics, Neurosciences, and Medical Informatics, Texas A&M Health Sciences Center Experience: 30 years of experience in biomedical imaging and informatics. One of the original developers for hospital-integrated picture archiviing and communication system (PACS) while at UCSF in 90s. Headed integrated clinical product development for Philips Medical Systems and Electronic Brokerage Technology for Charles Schwab. Founded two institute-wide research centers, HCNR Center for Bioinformatics at Harvard Medical School and Functional and Molecular Imaging Center at Brigham and Women's Hospitals including their first cyclotron and PET/MRI research imaging facilities. Developed first VLSI MB DRAM chip while at Bell Labs in 80s.
Historic ACMI Biography
Regarding pioneering image informatics, bioinformatics, systems biology, and drug repositioning, Wong implemented the nation's first hospital-integrated picture archiving communication system (UCSF) and the largest radiology information system in Europe (Philips), pioneered high-content analysis for drug discovery (Harvard), and developed new informatics-based approaches for drug repositioning and image-guided therapy (Houston Methodist).
