Nursing Informatics Innovators: Norma Lang

Norma M. Lang is the Howe Endowed Chair for Healthcare Transformation, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing and Aurora Health Care. She is Professor and Dean Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania and the former Dean at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing. Her research expertise includes quality assurance, nursing standards, outcome measures, informatics, terminology, peer review, public policy, the Nursing Minimum Data Set, and the International Classification for Nursing Practice. Dr. Lang is a Fellow of the Institute of Medicine, the American Academy of Nursing, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and a past board member of the National Quality Forum, the American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nursing and the American Nurses Foundation. She received the ANA’s First President’s Award, Distinguished Membership Award and the Jessie Scott Award, the NANDA Outstanding Leadership Award and the Joint Commission’s Ernest A. Codman Individual Award. Dr. Lang is a Living Legend in the American Academy of Nursing.
