The First Look Program exposes undergraduate women with an interest in informatics and/or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to the field through assigned mentorships, formal and informal networking, and additional learning opportunities onsite in Washington, DC.

Join fellow first time attendees to network, meet new colleagues, and get a sense of what to expect throughout the week while you're onsite. This gathering is intended to help first time attendees maximize their experience at the Annual Symposium.
Women in AMIA Networking Event (WINE)

Organized by the the Women in AMIA - Networking/Mentoring and Lifecycle Sub-Committee, WINE offers an opportunity to meet with other women to discuss various topics and network. Please note this is a closed event and only open to those that identify as female.

Fun Run

6:30 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. | Hotel Lobby
Join fellow attendees for some exercise through downtown Washington, DC. The run will cover approximately 5 miles and be hosted by AMIA member Dr. Danny Sands. For those who would like to do a shorter run, there will be a turnaround point at the 5K mark. The run will begin promptly at 6:45 a.m.
Registration is required, and participants must sign a liability waiver prior to participating.

The AMIA 2022 Annual Symposium Awards and LEAD Gala is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the amazing talent within the AMIA informatics community as well as recognize the incoming class of ACMI Fellows. The Awards Gala program honors those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and professional achievement in informatics.
The event is open to AMIA members, invited guests, and all Annual Symposium attendees.

Travel on a journey through the imagination, as America’s most-requested corporate hypnotist and guru, Tom Deluca, weaves together the lighthearted fun of a comedy show with a gripping hypnosis performance and motivational message. Afterward, the revelry continues at a dessert and cocktail reception, where you’ll undoubtably rehash the show — and roll with laughter — with your friends and colleagues.
